This 30x40 size is in the 4:3 Cinema. Belgian Linen finished to a primed weight of 12 oz.. It's double sized and double primed with archival quality alkyd oil primer; impervious to paints leaching that harm the fabric. Suitable for oils or alkyds only. The surface has an grayish tint. It's very absorbent and is a fabulous painting surface! Linen is the world's strongest natural fiber. It has oils that keep it flexible and prevent disintegration over time. The surface has a characteristic linen texture. There is a 5/16" gap between the canvas and frame, eliminating the unwanted lines that occur when the gap is less. We never use finger joints in our wood frames, which often fail under tension and over time - the glue joints give up, and are unsuitable for paintings intended to last for centuries. Patented 3.25" wide heavy duty keyable cross braces allow the canvas frame to be tensioned in the middle, where the tension is needed the most! The Stretcher Bars are slotted in the center to accept the cross braces. Due to our unique design, the cross braces provide maximum rigidity and may be removed, if desired. Both corner keys and brace keys are pre-installed. Stretched using our proprietary MuseumWrap method, producing a drum-tight-stretch, up to 50% tighter than other methods, and with balanced tension across the surface. The corners are uncut and neatly folded, making it possible to remove and re-stretch the canvas on the same size frame.

The canvas is top notch and an artist's dream piece! The size is huge and will allow you to create or design anything that your mind can come up with! I have never painted on anything like this before (my largest painting was 36x48)and that was done over 20 years ago. The photo is one I'm working on now and is 30 x40 inches, I prefer larger pieces.I have to admit I was intimidated when I first saw it because this canvas is 100% professional quality. It's surface is tight, the back construction is made with quality strength wood that will keep it tight and looking good long after I'm no longer here! It arrived well packed with a built in surrounding to hold it safely in place for shipping. The canvas is heavy and not flimsy like the Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby brands, this is an amazing piece. I can't wait to get started on this piece and would recommend it to any one, especially if you're a serious artist who may be on the fence about whether to treat yourself or not, go for it and turn your "inner artist" free!
