Not that the manufacturer or Amazon would bother to say but this is probably a brass casting considering the large weight of the main part (what is pressed by a hand to operate). Why does that matter? Brass does not rust under constant exposure to water unlike most stainless steel even if it is chrome plated. The part is flat instead of domed so water will stand on top of it and then leave water spots unlike the models that have more of a dome. So, the parts above the countertop all seem to be top quality. What the heck is going on down below? The plastic bottle merely clips into place to be held by plastic prongs which insert inside the neck of the bottle. It was a little too difficult to make that connection underneath the sink than it could have been with a better design. Most egregiously, the bottle is left "open", i.e. if too much soap is poured in from the top the soap will run out onto the cabinet floor an no one will know that until spring cleaning day.As for the actual pump mechanism it is darn plastic. Why build 90 percent of a product out of heavy duty brass casting that will last a lifetime then leave the parts that move the most to mere plastic parts that are prone to fail within 10 years if not 5 under heavy use? Hopefully, Franke will keep that plastic pump in stock for the next 40 years, but given how throw away the world has become, I don't bet on such things.20 years ago I owned a Grohe soap pump that appears to still be sold. It never failed in the 4 years I had it. However, after ready the reviews on Amazon about how much it failed, I decided to try this Franke model despite there being very few reviews about it. I understand these devices get alot of abuse and pushing dense liquid into a squirt requires a lot of force and this wear. But the application is very well know and these products have been made for years so I do not understand why no one seems to be able to sell a product that will certainly work for 25 years with perhaps a washer replacement every 7 years or so.Here's hoping about this Franke. This replaced my 20+year old soap dispenser in which the spring had broken. It was hard to install, but only because I hadn't removed the soap bottle in that entire time. Once I got the old bottle removed it only took a few seconds to install the new dispenser which works great!A quality product, it is priced on the higher end as you get what you pay for, This the 2nd Frankie dispenser we purchased the first dispenser is 10 years old with no issues over that time which made it easy decision to be a repeat buyer. It was easy to install.I works well as a dish soap pump. What else can I say! It doesn't clog up, unlike a previous Franke soap pump of a different model, which clogged up almost immediately, even with diluted dish soap. This is a replacement for the same. the 1st one lasted a couple of years, the chrome faded from exposure to soap and detergent and the spout being rusted and plugged up.Franke dispenser looks great , works great but it's very pricey for a factory mass item.Very good soap dispenser, nice chromed finish, it works excellentOur old kitchen sink soap dispenser came apart after 10 years, and had to replace. Buying online was taking a chance, but the product was perfect - exactly as described - and works like a charm. We've been using it for a couple months, with zero complaints!I am very happy with the replacement Franke Soap Dispenser. It was easy to install and it works much better than the originalone that I owned. It appears to me that they changed the pumpmechanism and this one seems to "glide" effortlessly.Thank you.
