Product Description

Originally from the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, more than one hundred and sixty artist quality oil colors are now made by Golden Artist Colors, Inc. in New Berlin, NY. Williamsburg colors are incredibly pigment rich, and each color has its own finish and feel – creating not only a palette of color, but also of texture. Williamsburg has the traditional working properties you expect from fine hand-made oil paints, but with more consistent engineering to match color and quality standards. Williamsburg offers a full range of colors that are lightfast and stable. The Textures of Williamsburg Colors Getting the proper pigments is just the beginning, as much of the quality in oil paint comes from the milling process. Each Williamsburg color is milled to bring out the beauty, luminosity, and personality of the pigment. A few colors may feel slightly coarse, while others are extremely smooth, preserving the wide traditional range of texture differences in oil colors. Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors have been sorted into four texture categories: The Textures of Williamsburg Colors Getting the proper pigments is just the beginning, as much of the quality in oil paint comes from the milling process. Each Williamsburg color is milled to bring out the beauty, luminosity, and personality of the pigment. A few colors may feel slightly coarse, while others are extremely smooth, preserving the wide traditional range of texture differences in oil colors. Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors have been sorted into four texture categories: Silky smooth, glossy, with little-to-no hint of texture. Very fine textured colors from Williamsburg include Cobalts, Phthalo Blues and Permanent Yellows, Oranges and Reds. Williamsburg Cadmiums are milled to a fine grade to create colors with exceptional density and tinting strength, while maintaining a smooth consistency. For many of our Earth colors, we take great care not to over-mill, allowing the pigment to be felt and to preserve the crystalline facets of the minerals. This allows for a stunning interplay between rich masstones and brilliant undertones. Several of our colors are milled to a coarse texture, such as Brown Pink and Stil De Grain. This offers a chunky or gritty feel and allows light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertones instead of just heavy, dull browns. I utilize primarily most of all their transparent and semi transparent oil paints. I paint in multiple thin glazing layers, very similar to Leonardo da Vinci, and by doing that you get color, beauty and depths and luminosity in your oil painting that you cannot get by just painting one color on your surface. The magenta here is a gorgeous and once again a series 5, which is a very high-quality pigment and the beauty is, it's only made with one pigment to maintain that color, so that is a almost pure color would be very hard if you mixed a red and a blue primary to get that magenta would be very hard so once again, if you love that particular color exactly the way it is for your painting then you got a winner. One of the things I like to share with you that I do that's a little different all the manufactures all of them will send you a color printed brochure of their color palette of all the colors they have an offer to sell to each artist, but I make up my own journals and make my own color patch of every color with all the technical data, and at the drop of a hat I can go into my art journal with whatever manufacture, and I use mini and look up the data, a real color patch to look at the real color not a printed color tells you what you wanna see And then you make better choices just a suggestion have a great day and keep painting Amazon does a tremendous job and offers a tremendous price and shipment of these great Williamsberg oil paints, and I have bought mini through Amazon and very happy of course.Jim Springett, wild
