Received on 12/3, assembled 12/4, main lamp dead 12/10. Clearly some folks get a better quality one and the rest of us get far less. Still, the speed of failure seemed absurd. So unscrewed the top LED base and suddenly the light worked. Playing around there is clearly some electrical connection issue, but I was not able to find it (and the light is so bright when on that it's hard to see anything else). Anyway, managed to get it working again. Curious to know how long it will go before the next time the connection gremlins strike. It is quite bright, exactly the sort of thing we were looking for. Would NOT buy again, however, as the construction is quite cheap considering the cost. A $50 unit (without the reading lamp) works much better and is more stable.
