I bought this two years ago and put it on top of an old cabinet to make a kitchen island. The quality is incredibly high. The grain is smooth, the finish is perfect, and the cherry has aged absolutely beautifully into a rich, consistent, deep red. I rub it with a butcher block conditioner occasionally, but it was so well oiled before I got it that it always looks gorgeous. It has never looked dry or in need of maintenance. I have butcher block counters too (from a different supplier), and while I love them, they don't begin to match the quality of this piece.
