I have been switching my vehicles to fully synthetic lubricants. After some trouble with a national chain doing damage to my mini SUV I had to pull the tranny for a fix and decided to open it up and take a look at how much damage/wear was on the inside. Luckily, not too bad, had to change the imput shaft and of course changed all the seals and also while you're there a new HD clutch kit. Put her all back together and fill her up with Red Line lightweight shockproof gear oil, don't know why I thought it would be red (like ATF), but it's not, its blue and is it slippery!!!!! I actually had a guy tell me not to use sythetic gear lube, that my tranny would shift poorly, I don't know what he was talking about, but it wasn't Red Line! Go to their web site and read up about this stuff, it's incredible, it has micro solid synthetic particals suspended in it and though it is thinner than plain old gear lube it acts like much heavier products and it doesn't want to shed or be slung off the gears. If you get this stuff on something that you don't want it on (your hands or something else) it absolutely won't come off without something to disolve it, like solvent or brake clean or mechanics hand soap. OMG!! My tranny shifts so smooth!!!! It's fan-FREAKING-tastic, it's like there isn't even gears there at all. I am really impressed! I will be switching to Red Line lubricants in all my vehicles as they come up for their service intervals. Gold Star!! will recommend this stuff to any and everyone that has a manual transmission!!!
