I have an old 6 cylinder plymouth with 175K miles. My stock oil pump was putting out a max when cold 40 psi. I installed the melling pump, and now the pressure when cold will reach 60 psi. I have some excessive clearance in the main bearings. the oil pressure is still low when hot, but better with the replacement pump. I opened the old pump up and the gears were scored and loose. So this pump gave me some more volume. The engine does not knock and runs good for a high mileage motor. I run 20w50 oil now because of the excessive clearances in the bearings. A good quality oil pump. This pumps gears are a little wider than the original pump. so you will get more volume.
