My particular size was priced less than others, so I took a chance and tried them for tougher-than-usual yard work (lots of digging and lumberjacking). They are great. Real leather, waterproof, electrical certified, yadda yadda. Im not sure how the composite toe protection stacks up against steel, but they are lighter weight than other steel toed boots that I've worn. About the only negative I can note is that the back of my heel got a bit sore when I was first breaking them in, and I had them tied a bit too tight. Loosening them a little at the time fixed it. I cant say if these boots are good enough for folks who need them for work (they may be), but they are superb for tough yard work. I bought a second pair to store as a backup.
