Dorman 264-135 Oil Pan appears to be just as good as the OEM oil pan. It looks exactly the same other than the "Made in China" that's imprinted on the bottom of the oil pan. (That's not the words you want to see when you are replacing parts on your truck)Information about installing this oil pan on your GM 5.3L engine.* The oil pan gasket is NOT included so make sure you order one. (Examples: MAHLE OS32241, GM 12612350, FEL-PRO OS30693R, or VICTOR REINZ 101022301)* Order a tube of Black RTV Sealant. (Example: PERMATEX 82180) There's a joint on the bottom of the engine block on each corner. Place a small bead of Black RTV over each joint to prevent a possible oil leak.* I'd recommend ordering an Oil Pump Pickup Tube O-Ring. (Example: MAHLE B32790, FEL-PRO 72401, or GM 12584922) While the oil pan is off, remove the 2 bolts on the oil pickup tube then remove the tube. Remove the old o-ring on the end of the pickup tube, then install the new o-ring. (This will give you better oil pressure if the old o-ring was leaking)* The oil drain plug is included.* There's not supposed to be a hole in the oil pan for the dipstick tube! The dipstick tube goes through the lower passenger side of the engine block.* There's a threaded hole in the passenger side of the oil pan, for the Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch. Unthread the switch from your old oil pan and install it in the new oil pan. (Make sure the o-ring comes off with the switch)* Order a new oil filter. (There's longer oil filters available such as the ACDelco PF61)* Order 6-7 quarts of oil.* You do not need to put Black RTV Sealant on the oil pan, or the oil pan gasket.* I'd recommend using brake cleaner and washing out the inside of the new oil pan. (You want to make sure the inside of the new oil pan is clean)I used the Dorman oil pan on my truck and have not had any issues. I replaced the oil pan due to a previous owner stripping the threads on the oil drain plug.
