I bought this particular brand and spplement because my doctor recommended it to reduce cholesterol.....they recommend it VS. Doing statins and have good results. I am in month 1. After 3-4 months I will update after I do my blood test to see if it was helpful in that sense.Regardless, I have wanted to find omega vitamins that don't leave a fishy taste. And these are perfect for that. Also, this has coQ10....which I also need to take.From the bottle: I am not listing the omega 3sVitamin E. 30 iu. (100%)red yeast rice powder 1200 mg (helps support healthy cholesterol levels)Coenzyme Q10 (helps support healthy cholesterol levels) 30 mgOleic acid (omega 9). 51 mgIt says that the fish oils surpass all pharmaceutical standards and is third-party tested showing no detected levels of heavy metals, dioxins or PCB'sHopefully this will help as it promises with cholesterol. From my doctors experience it will. But regardless, I know I'm getting great quality fish oil! Without fishy taste or after burps.UPDATE: after 4 months of use, my blood work revealed no significant changes in cholesterol. I did not modify my diet or exercise during this time. The only conclusion that I can draw is that for me, this product did not help reduce my LDL--as it implies it will. It may still be a great product. I prefer it to other fish oils supplements I have tried because of not having fishy burps. I still do take the product but am very disappointed that it didn't really help my cholesterol numbers.Here are my specific numbers:Prior to taking: After taking vs 4 months ResultsTotal cholesterol: 250 now 254 increase in a bad wayTriglycerides 189 now 157 significant reduction in a good wayLDL: 150 now 166 significant increase in a bad wayHDL: 62 now 67 significant increase in a good wayHope these numbers help you decide if you want to try the product. I had an LDL increase on the product so I'm changing to a 3 star rating But my Triglycerides came down. But overall cholesterol went up.I will say that I am concerned about quality control on this product when buying from Amazon. So maybe I will buy from my doctor (and pay more) to see if that matters. The first time I got a shipment online it seemed exactly the same as the doctor. The next time, the shipment was shipped during hot weather and everything was gummed up and stuck to each other. I sent it back and they sent me a new bottle. that bottle smelled like fish (but no fishy taste)--but i didn't remember the first bottle smelling that way. Now I have another bottle that was shipped and it smells like chemicals. Only vendors sell this product as of 12/2011 and not amazon---so maybe quality control isn't good. They may not store properly, etc. This is just a theory--no facts--but only the first bottle smelled like the one I got at my doctor's office. I will update this again if I continue to experiment. I am now adding significant fiber to my diet and trying to watch my diet---therefore, blood test results from this point out won't reflect this product as much as a change in diet.I disliked the fact that these were melted together when I got them and couldn't return them.Good for healthy careThe price is way too high for a small bag of coffee so I can see why people may not purchase it again beause of the high price. Can't you put it on sale or try to decrease the price so more people can enjoy it.I've been taking this product for years, ever since my stents and later bypass surgery came into being. The red yeast rice is the same basic ingredient used to make synthetic stain drugs, and much more pure/natural. My doctor has me on a double dose daily. My LDL cholesterol is right at 100...fantastic number for someone with heart disease. So very happy because I have severe drug sensitivities and needed an effective alternative.I've been taking this for quite some time. Recently my endo wanted to follow "suggested guideline" that all diabetics take statins. Although my cholesterol numbers were good, she switched me to statins and had me quit ProOmega LDL. Almost immediate signs of Rhabdomyolysis. Switch to another statin - same result. Quit statins / return to ProOmega LDL. Numbers still good with NO side effects. Officially OFF of statins for ever.I order this product often as I have high cholesterol and sometimes I run out Before I can get it from my pharmacy grade place. When I got my order tonight the package also had in if a free bottle of “fat burner” I want to call this out as I don’t have any interest in a fat burner and I think it’s weird that that was a free sample with this fish oil. It was from a completely different brand as well so not sure if it’s Amazon driven or 3rd party.I have taken a lot of Nordic Naturals in the past and they were fine. But when I opened the jar of these, the smell of fish was overwhelming. There is no way I am going to be able to take them. Don’t know if it this particular formulation or if they got too warm in shipping.I received the replacement today and it does not smell nearly as much. This one I could swallow.
