I bought this when Amazon was selling them for $49 each, which was probably a system glitch -- after I ordered a pair at that price, they immediately shot up to $185 each.Quality control is suspect. One pen was so poorly manufactured that it barely accepted the Sheaffer RB cartridge; I had to practically pound it into the pen. That pen was returned. The other pen accepted the cartridge just fine, but now has a laterally loose clip. If it becomes problematic I will send it to Sheaffer for repair. On both pens, the cap band has a sharp edge -- with the cap posted, this digs into the webbing between my thumb and forefinger. How hard would it be to soften up that edge in manufacturing? One other issue: after just a bit of posting the cap, there is already finish wear on the barrel. But that happens on many pens when they are posted. On the plus side, the pen has a nice shape with a wide section, good heft, and Sheaffer's RB inserts are very nice writers. It comes with Sheaffer's lifetime warranty, which is useful as long as they maintain a facility in Iowa. All in all, an okay pen for $49, but not worth $185.
